The topic at hand is distinctly American. Pickup trucks are not only tools but aspirational vehicles in 

the United States (as well as Canada and Mexico). Here, both the boss and the boss's boss drive 

pickups. In North America, pickups are cherished friends, treasured family heirlooms, and status 

symbols. Additionally, the all-electric F-150 Lightning provides additional environmental benefits. It's also perhaps Ford's fastest brick ever hurled.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said to Fox Business in September, "We're investing in [internal combustion 

engine] categories where we're strong and where we believe, as rivals leave the markets, we can really expand.

"I find it interesting that we present our industry's future as being monolithic. That is not how things work. It won't reveal itself in that way.

These pickups sacrifice some utility for style, comfort, acceleration, and audacity.
